A Comcast report based on figures up to April 15 (compared to March 1, 2020) reveals that entertainment, streaming, and videogames still dominate the use of the net.

“The use of the net on evenings and weekends increased since clients raised the time they spend watching TV and playing videogames considerably. The download traffic peak continues to be, on average, during nights and weekends nationwide,” commented a spokesperson from the company.

On average, game downloads increased by 77%, whereas consumption of streaming and web videos grew 37%. On TV similar patterns were observed: an increase of more than two hours of daily visualization per home and an increase of more than 50% in VOD consumption compared to last year. Additionally, a 250% growth in the voice search for free content.

When consulted on how Comcast determines what Latino channels and content to offer during this pandemic, he comments: “We got in touch with all our partners from channels and SVOD content with the idea of offering free programming during the pandemic. We work individually with those who are interested in developing the plan and broadcast that best adapt to each one. Many also contributed their own ideas, so it was a collaborative effort”.
