Sergio Pizzolante, General Manager of CTMOBS, together with Ed Kelley, general director of HIR Expo, and Steve Ianuzzi, owner of Bruno Events, reported that from July 4 to 7, 2019 the pop culture festival called PopCon will be held at the Pepsi Center WTC and the World Trade Center Mexico.

The event, that will attract 60 thousand people, will include musical themes that are part of pop culture, but their foundation will be mainly television and music. Fashion, video games, technology are other ingredients, but, according to Pizzolante´s explanation, networks, big studios and their operations in Latin America, as well as platforms such as Netflix, Amazon, Apple, are the stars. “This is the Latin American upfront we never had,” he explained.

In the aim to be a theme park, with excellent guests, in which fans can have unique experiences with their brand, they are also expected to make announcements of series they will make in the future. Although they have already spoken with several Mexican networks, platforms and production companies, they don´t want to mention them until they have signed contracts. Pepsi will be a sponsor of the event.

There will be activations, show contents that have not been broadcast yet, they will bring talents, and musicians such as Nicky Jam, Maluma, Becky G, and J Balvin, are expected to be there, more than to sing, to share with their fans giving the interest these artists arise. “An example is that Becky G is the yellow Power Ranger, or that Balvin likes fashion. We want to see Maluma interacting with his fans in a more organic way,” said Pizzolante.

They forecast that the Festival will later spread to Latin America, Colombia —Medellin— and Miami.
