Propagate Content, founded by Ben Silverman and Howard T. Owens, has among its main objectives to get great IPs from Latin America and offer them to global audiences.

For Cyrus Farrokh, president of International Distribution and who has been with the company for 13 years, “Silverman has a great record identifying IPs and successfully bringing them to the US”, as were Ugly Betty (Colombian format) and Jane the Virgin (from Venezuela).

“For us, it is very important to find local stories, but with a global point of view. We are looking for stories that we can tell in any language and platform that come from Latin America, but that is important to our culture,” said Catalina Ramírez, director of Sales and Acquisitions of Propagate Content.

Farrokh mentions that they are very excited because what leads the slate is the adaptation of Rebelde, format by Cris Morena, for Netflix and that they co-produce with Woo Films, “which should be released this year.” He announced that they have another couple of projects currently developing with “first-class creators.”

“From distribution, we are looking to connect with different platforms and, and regarding acquisitions, we are always looking for great content from Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, and even Chile. As we continue to grow in the region, obviously a priority is local production,” said Farrokh.

Among the contents that Propagate has for distribution in the region, the documentary film LFG stands out, about the US women’s soccer team in their fight for salary equity. HBO Max broadcasts it in the US.

It also distributes Fox productions and unscripted shows of Showtime. These include the cooking competition series, Crime Scene Kitchen, which debuted on Fox USA in May; the competition series Ultimate Slip ‘n Slide that will debut on NBC in the US on August 8th; the documentary Bitchin: The Sound and Fury of Rick James which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival; and the Parker Hill & Isabel Bethencourt documentary Cusp for Showtime.
