Sebastián Ligarde of Venevision Productions’ DeMente Criminal: This is the most complex role I’ve ever played

Sebastián Ligarde, Mexican-American actor based out of Miami, was chosen to play the murderous psychiatrist in the Venevision Productions series DeMente Criminal, inspired by true events in Venezuela.In an interview with PRODU on set, Ligarde explained how he landed that role and what it means for his career; one of the most complex characters he has ever played.“We’re talking about a presidential candidate, the dean of a university, a well-known doctor in Venezuelan society; a charming, seductive guy, but behind that façade lied a monster,” said Ligarde emphasizing that the ‘behavioral pendulum’ he had to balance was huge.He also told PRODU that the offer from Venevision Productions for him to play the leading role was unexpected and unbelievable, considering he is an actor in his 50’s.
