Telemundo announced the start of production of El Chema

Telemundo kicks off production of super series El Chema, which is a spin-off of El Señor de los Cielos.

The production tells the story of how Chema Venegas (Mauricio Ochmann) got his start in organized crime, following his career as he rises through the ranks to lead the cartel he controls in El Señor de los Cielos. Chema began breaking the law at a young age, transporting marijuana across the US-Mexican border when he was just a boy.

El Chema, written by Luis Zelkowicz, will also feature a special appearance by actor Rafael Amaya that will join Mauricio Ochmann, Mariana Seoane, Itatí Cantoral, Carmen Aub, Alexandra de la Mora, Arcelia Ramírez, Sergio Basáñez and Julio Bracho.
