Virtual Democracy Plaza is a virtual reality recreation of the iconic Rockefeller Center Plaza

Telemundo and NBC News anchor, José Díaz-Balart, will host a Q&A on the Presidential Election from Virtual Democracy Plaza, a virtual reality recreation of the iconic Rockefeller Center Plaza, on Saturday, October 15 at 3:30pm ET/12:30 PT.

The experiment is a first-of-its-kind use of social virtual reality for major news event coverage and direct viewer engagement. This unprecedented virtual reality platform will allow viewers from all over the world to participate directly with Mr. Díaz-Balart and ask him questions, in English and Spanish, about the ongoing electoral process.

During every presidential election cycle, NBC News transforms Rockefeller Center into Democracy Plaza — an interactive celebration of American citizenship and our political history. This year, NBC News is extending this experience for the first time to virtual reality. To join any of the upcoming Virtual Democracy Plaza events, visitors can use Oculus Rift CV1, HTC Vive or Samsung Gear VR. For the 2D experience, users can join using a PC or Mac. Visitors can check the schedule of events and RSVP in advance.

This event is supported by #DECISION2016, the Telemundo News platform to inform and empower Hispanic voters in the US.

In close collaboration with NBC News, Noticias Telemundo will produce more than 275 hours of political coverage throughout the campaign, an unprecedented figure in the network’s history.
