Patricio Wills, president of Televisa Estudios, was at #VisitaPRODU, where he insisted on the fact that they are a production company, a content factory.

“We are and continue to be the biggest and most important Spanish-language production company in the world,” emphasized Wills, who has been five months at Televisa Estudios, where he is responsible for content realization.

For him, the idea is to have a broader variety of products, both in fiction and in entertainment (action series, and short series) without leaving telenovelas aside, in which he assured there would be improvements and innovations to adapt them to the moment. “We are working on faster, shorter stories.”

He also mentioned they are preparing projects for 2019, with youth aspects, and stories like the ones that can be seen in some Netflix series.

They have agreements with Amazon to make three contents for the platform: Diablo Guardián and two more. “Original production of short series is with Amazon,” he explained.

According to Wills, open television is changing, it is being modified to gradually find its place, but not dying. He mentioned that Televisa is open to receive projects and proposals. There is an opening to seek different conditions, different markets, different opportunities, to go beyond our channels.”

He added that there might come a time when Televisa provides production services to third parties.

“Our partnership vocation is a priority, with the aim for our scope, our products to reach places where they haven’t been, through partnership mechanisms and co-productions.”
