ViX contemplates producing original kid’s animation content by 2024. “It is the evolution of what we view in ViX. We are already producing entertainment for ViX and the next step for 2024 will be animation. We are very flexible regarding allies and business models, which put more opportunities on the table. We have done it with our fiction and entertainment production and we are going to do it with animation, being flexible and looking for the best opportunity for our users, is the key”, said Jorge Balleste, VP of Partnerships and Content Acquisitions, TelevisaUnivision at the Kidscreen Summit 2023.

He added that they want content that really “shows the values of the Latino public.” As an example, he mentioned the movie Koatí, produced by Sofía Vergara and Marc Anthony, a Latino animated comedy starring a family of exotic creatures from South America’s rainforests. “For us, it is important to highlight the pride for the Latin American product so that everyone can learn more about our region.”

Balleste is looking for recognized properties in the Kidscreen market. “The kid’s category and all the family content are very important to ViX. We are a company that acknowledges family values and kid’s content is key for ViX,” he said.

He noted that retro properties like Teletubbies, Strawberry Shortcake, and Barney have done very well for ViX. “These properties that have entertained kids for so many years continue to work very well for us,” he noted.

Balleste was satisfied with the volume of people and companies that are at Kidscreen. “We see that the Kid’s content industry continues to evolve: many production companies, many animation companies, which gives us a great opportunity to choose better content.”
