W Studios: Alliance with Lemon Films to produce our contents in Mexico

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 12 de agosto de 2016

La Piloto (80×60’) and Buchonas (80×60’) are the first two series generated W Studios for UniMás and that will be produced by Lemon Films in Mexico. Buchonas is in pre-production phase and the production of La Piloto will start on September 5.”Our model as W Studios, as opposed to when were RTI, is to be a content incubator. We do not have studios, mobile equipment nor a 300-people staff. We are focused on contents, on having the rights to books, access to writers or a format that appeals to us. Our focus is on finding good ideas, good projects and develop them. When it comes to doing the production, we find support in local production companies,” expressed Ana Bond, senior VP for Strategy and Business at W Studios.Bond states that W Studios’ main focus is Mexico because of the topic of audience. “Our main audience and screen is US Hispanic -Univision and UniMás- together with other projects we have currently in process to produce with Televisa.””The alliance with Lemon is very important and relevant because the idea with W Studios is not to do more of the same thing, it is a different bet. There is a general commitment to always seek more quality and Lemon is characterized in the market for having quality products, for working with the best directors,” expressed Bond.Regarding the projects for Televisa, she mentioned they are short –20 to 30 episodes- because they are thought for the Blim platform. “We are reviewing a project that has 30 episodes and another one with 3 seasons, 20 episodes each.”She explained that Televisa will be the international distributor of all the productions they do for UniMás and Televisa.
