WAPA Sports and WAPA offer growth opportunities

Jorge Hidalgo, the new president, and general manager of WAPA Televisión from Puerto Rico, who will start in his position on January 1, 2021, expressed this challenge fills him with emotion. “WAPA reminds me of the start of Hispanic TV. It is an innovative company, people are fond of it and use the channel´s t-shirt and that is reflected on the screen. It is a unique position I regard with a great deal of respect and illusion to continue with WAPA´s unending success” he explained.

Hidalgo highlights that he is hopeful that 2021 will be a year of rebirth. “I think immediate opportunities are in WAPA Deportes´ and WAPA 2´s digital part. There, we find new opportunities” he emphasized.

“Not only do I enter a channel that is working very well, but that has a wonderful staff: in Sales, we have Jonathan García, Jimmy Arteaga in Programming, Rafael Lenín in News with whom I was lucky to work last year when we had the intention to modernize NotiCentro and I was asked to be in charge of the project. Rafael is the best I have had in the last few years. He is a real journalist, who is not only interested in his community and his people, but in offering a balanced product”.

It was possible to know that the Upfront, which WAPA traditionally holds in December, will take place by means of a video produced by the channel, announcing the programming and the advertising offer that will be sent via email to clients and agencies the second week of December. There are no plans to have a virtual celebration.
