“We are perfectly positioned to capitalize on international content and audiences,” commented JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS International Studios and Networks Americas, in his conversation with John Hopewell, international editor of Variety, in Natpe Miami Virtual.
Acosta highlighted that they have 140 projects in development and are expanding in genres like animation and children’s programming with VIS Kids, movies for streaming and even taking key IPs to podcasts. “We are positioned as a global content provider and are happy that content is the core of all we do and the studio adapts perfectly,” he expressed.
The scripted projects he highlighted include Electric Years (Dynamo, CBS Studios, and VIS); La Novia Gitana (VIS and Diagonal TV) and Artemisia, from the writer, director, and producer Vanessa Alexander; movies like the spin-off from Kally’s Mashup – ¡El Cumpleaños! (title to be confirmed); Woman in Black Boots; documentaries and docu-series such as Dr. Ballí; Adriano el Emperador and 38 Estrellas; as well as children’s content like Marcelo, Marmelo, Martelo (with Coyote Producciones Cinematográfica), among others.
He said the studio is presenting an innovative image in this Natpe and revealed that VIS launched its first global brand campaign that consists of short videos that present their best talents in front of and behind cameras, sharing their genuine passion for the industry.
