Wabi Productions won a silver trophy in the first edition of the Cíclope Latino Festival, in the Live Activation subcategory of Visual Effects for its piece Rodeo for Doritos. Alan Suárez, CEO and General Director of the production company, told PRODU that the winning piece had been made by the BBDO Mexico agency and had international projection.”It is a commercial that has good creativity and it wasn’t easy in the technical aspect, because we had to recreate a real rodeo competition. We shot professional bull fighters and at the end of the commercial, one of them simulates he is riding a bull, but it is actually a grizzly bear” said Suárez. He added that the challenge of the shooting was turning the bull into a bear. “We worked with MPC, who made the bear in 3D and it ended up being hyper realistic. All this complexity of filming with animals, filming with bull riders -a high-risk sport- and also finish by turning it into a bear, is truly complex in the technical and planning aspect” he explained. The winning piece was developed by BBDO Mexico and directed by Pablo Hermida. “BBDO International was seeking to ensure that Mexico had the capability to execute commercials at an International scale and the result was so amazing that it was possible to prove that this type of productions can be made in Mexico and that it was exported to a great deal of countries.” With this award, the production company adds to a number of acknowledgments that range from FIAP to two Ariel Awards for the documentary El hombre que vio demasiado.
