ALMA and FCB Chicago top the Radio Mercury awards list

More than 100 radio campaigns have made it to finalists in the Radio Mercury Awards 2016, representing a great number of agencies, stations and regional advertisers. ALMA and FCB Chicago are the leading finalists in this edition, across multiple categories. The awards recognize outstanding radio pieces made by agencies, production companies, radio stations and students.The entries were judged based upon creativity, originality and communication effectiveness of a brand’s message. Coca-Cola will receive on June 2nd the award for Radio Marketer of the Year, during the event that will take place in New York.“At the heart of a compelling and creative radio spot is storytelling” said Chris Smith, Brand Creative Group Head, The Richards Group and chief judge for the 2016 Radio Mercury Awards. “These finalists moving to the next round all tell their stories in surprising ways that still deliver on their briefs.”“The bar continues to be set at an exceptionally high level of creative excellence” said Erica Farber, President and CEO of the Radio Advertising Bureau. “Building brand awareness and driving ROI are radio’s best attributes, and all of these finalists creatively succeed on delivering that promise.”The final evaluation round will be judged by professionals such as Wade Alger, senior VP, group creative director, The Martin Agency; Jill Applebaum, creative director, The Barbarian Group; Mark Gross, executive VP, executive creative director, DDB Chicago; Peter Kain, executive creative director, executive VP, BBDO NY; Larissa Kirschner, VP, creative director, Publicis North America; Chuck Rachford, executive creative director, Cossette; Marty Senn, chief creative officer, Carmichael Lynch; and Alvar Sunol, copresident, chief creative officer, Alma.
