CMC- Jonathan Garcia of ALMA: Winning one Rising Star only makes you want more

Jonathan Garcia, Associate Creative Director of ALMA, is one of the prizewinners of the 2019 edition of Rising Stars Recognition by CMC, which honors young professionals making a name for themselves in the world of marketing and advertising. “A Rising Star is something that lets you know two things: first, that you have a team that believes in you and backs your professional work, and second, that you’re on the right track,” Garcia said. “It’s a kind of pat on the back that makes you look back and realize all you’ve achieved – but also pushes you forward and makes you want to do even better. More than recognition, it’s an inspiration that makes you work for ever more successes.” He warned that developing a creative´s talent is not just an agency’s responsibility, it is the responsibility of each of its professionals: “An agency might be completely restructured, but if the creative is not hungry to get ahead, it will be hard to ensure professional development. As for the agency, as long as it continues finding ways to inspire and create an environment with good vibes, it will be of great benefit for young people, and consequently for itself.” For creatives to stand out in their careers, the profession must become a lifestyle. “Regardless of how much of a cliche it may seem, having fun is vital. It’s a combination of attitudes, passion, genuine eagerness to do cool things, moving forward, learning from everyone, remaining humble, proving what you’re made of daily, and taking a shower every day.” The awards ceremony will be held on June 11 during the annual CMC summit.
