David Chipon retires from ACA Films after 17 years

Chipon: Me siento afortunado de haber participado en momentos claves de la industria
For 17 years, David Chipon served as Executive Producer and Partner at ACA Films. Recently he informed his decision of undertaking a new path and he shared with PRODU his experience during those years. “This has been an extraordinary time of learning, growth and professional success” he said. During his tenure, ACA Films evolved and grew. With Elda Bravo, who founded the production house in Miami, they opened business in Mexico, Buenos Aires and Los Angeles. They also were acknowledged in the Craft area in many international festivals, such as London, Clio, AHAA, Círculo Creativo and El Ojo de Iberoamérica. “I feel fortunate of being part of the industry key moments. I remember when we filmed the first commercial pilot with Phantom, when the camera was still used only for military tests, such as ballistics, and that we were searching a Photosonic option Vision Research lent us this camera that became rapidly in an industry standard” Chipon said. He also was part of the production of the first 3D Live Action movie during the U2 band Vertigo 2006 tour in Mexico, Brazil, Chile and Argentina. “I was invited as a juror at festivals like Círculo Creativo de México, and was fortunate of traveling and carrying out a series of incredible projects with well-known directors throughout the U.S., Latin America and Europe” Chipon said.
