The financial services company driven by a mission to serve the credit needs of the growing Hispanic market recently announced that it will soon become known as Oportun.”For over eight years, our focus has led the field of responsible, affordable and sustainable lending for the financially underserved individuals. As we continue our mission, we want a name that is based on the perception of our customers, our company and what we do for them, and we wanted a short, memorable name. Oportun is based in the word Opportunity” Raul Vazquez said, CEO of Progreso Financiero.”We are deeply committed to our mission of building a sustainable business that offers comfortable responsible lending and fixed payments that serve the Hispanic community to establish credit and build a healthier financial future,” Vazquez continued.A recent consumer research project helped to inform the selection of the new name and identity. “As a result of a very thorough process of consumer research, we are confident that both the new name as the creative identity will be welcomed by our Hispanic customers,” Juan P. Valdes said, VP of Marketing and Communications. Progreso Financiero, soon known as Oportun, has provided more than $ 1.3 billion to more than 485,000 customers since its founding. The company will adopt its new name in the coming months, while it shares it with its customers and business partners. The change of name will be completed later this year.
