Globo to launch VOD service Globo Play in November

Globo prepares the launch of a new experience of watching TV. With the new on demand platform Globo Play, the network expands its digital content offer to new devices, viewing occasions, and places. Beginning on November 3rd, it will be possible to follow the network’s live programming, watch excerpts, and have access to Globo’s archive of classics across multiple devices, such as smartphones, tablets, desktop computers and, soon, in smart TVs. Globo Play also marks the beginning of Globo’s content distribution in 4K.”We are amplifying our linear programming reach to new devices and viewing occasions, enriching the audience’s experience with our content. Among them, will be the programming broadcast in real time, which will be available initially to markets covered by Rio de Janeiro’s and São Paulo’s channels.“We will offer a premium experience to users, with improved usability, content availability after the program is aired, and an unbeatable archive of major TV successes. Not to mention the live transmission of our programming, which includes content ranging from drama, variety shows and films to our news and sports’ shows. This is Globo’s programming available anywhere and anytime the public wants”, says Erick Brêtas, Globo’s director of Digital Media.Globo Play will also offer catch-up services of the network’s major telenovelas, series, miniseries, besides full access to Globo’s news and sports programming. Subscribers will receive access to full episodes of drama and humor contents, as well as exclusive camera angles of the reality show Big Brother Brasil, along with news, drama series, and miniseries archives that were successes at Globo. From over 80 archive programs available, the public will be able to revisit titles such as the telenovelas Brazil Avenue and Precious Pearl.
