Achero Mañas: La dirección es una profesión cambia

Known as director, screenwriter and actor, Achero Mañas was born in Madrid in 1966. In 1995, he wrote and directed his first short film called Metro for which he received the Luis Buñuel film award and the award for best short film at the International Exhibition of Montecatini Terme. In 1996, he wrote, directed and produced the short film titled Cazadores (Hunters) which won the Goya for best short film. The following year he wrote, directed and produced his latest short Paraísos Artificiales (Artificial Paradises), with which he obtained relevant national and international awards. He made three films years later; El Bola (Ball), which premiered in 2001 with four Goya awards. Best Original Screenplay, Best Newcomer, Best New Director and Best Film. The next year, he won several nominations of the European Academy receiving the Fassbinder award as director.In 2002, he wrote in collaboration with his brother Federico Mañas, his second film titled Noviembre (November) that gets the FIPRESCI prize at the Toronto International Film Festival, the Youth prize at the International Festival of San Sebastian and the Luis Buñuel for film. His last film Todo lo que Tú Quieras (Everything You Want) was a success by critics and the public, participating in numerous festivals; Toronto International Film Festival, Festival of Palms Springs, Roma Independent Film Festival, Jeonju International Film Festival, among others. With over ten years in the audiovisual field, Mañas has worked with clients such as Nike, Coca Cola, Crest, Fnac, Movistar, Nickelodeon, etc. “I never discard working for any company but two main aspects influence my decision to participate or not in a campaign: creative quality and ethical engagement of the customer ” he explained. At the moment, he is preparing his next project in Los Angeles, titled Brooklyn Bird, being in charge of bringing the Microteatro project to the USA, a pioneer in the international arena of the performing arts. Throughout this year, it is scheduled to open in cities like Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.In 2014, he begins to be represented by Harpoon Pictures in the USA. To Mañas, this translates into an excellent opportunity to enter the American market in the hands of a few top ranking professionals.As if that were not enough, he has collaborated on several productions for the Hispanic market.
