José Manuel Cubas, president and founder of multicultural advertising agency Siboney USA, died later in the week. Cubas considered one of the pioneers in the Hispanic market advertising industry, founded the legendary agency in Havana, Cuba in 1953.After leaving his native country in 1963, Cubas with his brother Gustavo, founded in Puerto Rico Publicidad Siboney, in a society with Manuel de La Vega and Antonio Lopez Graña. In 1967, Siboney had a significant growth that allowed them to open offices in Latin America, starting with Venezuela. Two decades later, they established themselves in the US to serve the Hispanic market in the country, achieving an inspiring career in the advertising industry.Siboney USA, considered at the time as one of the most influential Hispanic agencies, managed to have a significant presence in the territory, with offices in Miami, New York and Dallas. Major customers have been served by the Hispanic agency, such as Sedano’s Supermarkets; Kellogg’s, Red Lobster; MilkPEP; Colgate-Palmolive, Blue Cross Blue Shields, among others.
