Metro Puerto Rico and Spanglish Movies are launching the free AVOD platform, 100% in Spanish, SalaPR.tv, offering Latino movies and series.

“We have more than 100 titles now available including movies and series and we are going to be programming new content every month to strengthen the offer. It can be displayed on mobile devices as an app and also on desktop,” said . Some of the kick-off contents are Código Paz, Complot, Backseat Fighter, and Fuera de Tinieblas.

“We are very proud to support a free platform for Puerto Ricans and the enormous quality of the content created by their local talents. Movies, series, documentaries, shorts and comedy shows, salapr.tv honors the pride and respect regarding the world-class quality of producers, actors, and musicians of the Isla del Encanto,” expressed Gustavo R. Aparicio, Managing Director of Spanglish Movies.

Metro, which has been operating in Puerto Rico for 10 years, is constantly innovating and developing products that generate new content, according to Caraballo. A little over a year ago, the media network approached Spanglish Movies in order to find ways to distribute their content using their resources and platforms. “From there we began to shape this project, which today is the first free platform with 100% content in Spanish in Puerto Rico,” he pointed out.

For now, the platform will only reach Puerto Rico, but the intention is to expand it internationally by the middle of the year or by the third quarter of 2023. Although viewing or user statistics are not yet available, Metro has a unique-user base of three million monthly and more than 8 million monthly page views, Caraballo said.

Regarding advertisers, Caraballo mentioned that they are in the process of closing deals and that there are many interested parties.
