A year after entering the Mexican market, Amazon Prime Video launched its first local original production, Diablo Guardián, when announcing that their next project would be Extraño Enemigo, a political thriller directed by Gabriel Ripstein, together with the investment in international catalog content and generation of sports productions on the way to the Russia World Cup, such as Six Dreams.

Marco Nobili, director of Amazon Prime Video Mexico, stated that Diablo Guardián is key in the platform’s growth in that country: “It is a very good story, based on the book by Xavier Velasco, which has marked generations in Mexico and other countries. It is a good step to continue investing in original local production”.

He announced that they are working on the production of their next original project, Extraño Enemigo, directed by Gabriel Ripstein, starring Daniel Jiménez Cacho, a political thriller surrounding the events that occurred in Mexico in 1968.

The executive highlighted that in the last few months they have added quality content in different areas: “With global series content that has made us famous, such as The Tick and American Gods; the latter will have a second season that is already in production. Additionally, there are licensed series such as Fear the Walking Dead and others like The Office. In local content, we have productions such as El César”.

Finally, he mentioned they would launch Six Dreams, a non-scripted sports product based on six characters from the Spanish league, including the captain of the Mexican team, Andrés Guardado.
