A multiple-Emmy award-winning journalist and weather specialist, Hernández will join the leadership team of the powerhouse local television stations starting Monday, April 20. She will report to David Manney, Vice President of News for NBC 4 New York/WNBC and Telemundo 47/WNJU.
“Ana is a creative, dynamic journalist and newsroom leader with deep experience guiding coverage of national stories and community issues – in two languages and on multiple platforms,” said Dave Manney, Vice President of News for NBC 4 New York/WNBC and Telemundo 47/WNJU. “I’m excited for the leadership she’ll bring to our growing bilingual newsroom and our coverage on TV, streaming, social, and digital.”
Hernández joins NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 from Philadelphia, where she has served as News Director for Telemundo62/WWSI since 2019. She also leads weather planning and producing for the full duopoly with NBC10/WCAU.
In her current role, Hernandez worked closely with WNJU over the years on a wide variety of news stories, which have included Puerto Rico’s recovery from Hurricane Maria, the COVID-19 outbreak, New Jersey elections and the manhunt for accused killer Luigi Mangione.
“This is an exciting and truly incredible moment for me. For nearly a decade, I have worked alongside an amazing group of journalists at WWSI and WCAU who pour their heart and soul into their work, serving a community unlike any other. I have learned so much from them,” said Hernández. “This opportunity allows me to fulfill a lifelong dream. Walking into 30 Rock on my first day as News Director will be a meaningful moment—one I approach with humility, honor, and gratitude.”
