Epigmenio Ibarra, CEO of Argos Comunicación reported that by the end of the year they will have a more than 32 thousand square feet big backlot, located in the west side of the city, which will add greater options to their facilities in Tlalnepantla, where they already have six forums, as well as administration and workshop buildings. The owner of the lot is a partner in the venture.

“We are about to start shooting, but we already installed a small service area, that in general is for trucks and we would try to advance and have fixed dressing rooms, as well as a service area,” he said, after commenting they are studying which are the most recurring locations.

He explained they are aiming to find more rational ways to shoot in the area of Mexico City. “There used to be 5 to 8 productions in Mexico City in a year, and today we find there could be 45 or 50 productions. This means we are constantly bumping into one another, not only with other production companies but even with ours. That is why we established a location situation room, to be clear about where our units are, what locations are recurring and relevant, which ones have difficulties, which ones have been seen too many times or repeatedly,” he stated, after highlighting that there are occasions when it´s possible to see ten shooting units in the streets.

He stated that together with the Secretariat of Tourism of the city government, they are conducting scouting to the west, to discover new places for shooting locations. However, he insisted that the key is the exhaustive use of forums.
