This unique campaign used the city’s outrage to highlight the unconditional love of dogs and promote adoption.
On the night of February 2, 2025, Mavericks GM Nico Harrison made the most shocking move in franchise history: he traded star player Luka Dončić to the Lakers. The city went into a meltdown. Fans protested, cars were flipped, and fires burned in the streets. Nico instantly became the most hated man in Dallas.
Which made Dieste wonder… does anyone still like him?
That question led to an idea: Dogs Can’t Hate. In the middle of the chaos, Dallas Pets Alive launched a radio and social campaign aimed at saving adoptable dogs. The campaign tapped into a simple, powerful truth—no matter how unpopular you are, a dog will always love you. Unconditionally.
Dieste leaned into it. While the city raged, they reminded them that there’s one group that doesn’t care about trades, stats, or jersey numbers—dogs.
The campaign dropped the day Luka came back to Dallas in a Lakers uniform. Emotions were high. Boos were loud. Hate was fresh. And right in the middle of it, Campaign Dieste reminded fans:
Dogs Can’t Hate. Even if you’re the most hated man in Dallas.
