El Ciclo: Pedro Armendáriz, The Face of Mexican Cinema
Canal 22 Internacional, the arts and entertainment channel, is celebrating the films of Mexican actor Pedro Armendáriz Hastings throughout the month of September with a selection of his finest films. Sharing the spotlight with El Ciclo, Canal 22 Internacional is also presenting the award-winning contemporary Latin film El Jardín del Edén. In September Canal 22 Internacional devotes its stellar film cycle to El Ciclo: Pedro Armendáriz, The Face of Mexican Cinema, considered one of the most emblematic buffoons in the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema. Each Saturday at 11pm ET/8pm PT, Canal 22 Internacional will air one of El Ciclos most popular films. Among his most memorable films are: Las Abandonadas, Bugambilia, Juan Charrasqueado, Flor Silvestre, La Perla and María Candelaria.Las señoritas Vivanco (Mexico, 1959), airing on Saturday, September 15, directed by Mauricio de la Serna and starring Pedro Armendáriz, Ana Luisa Peluffo, Manuel Fábregas, Sara García and Prudencia Grifell.La Escondida (Mexico, 1956), airing on Saturday, September 22, is directed by Roberto Gavaldón and José Revueltas, stars María Félix, Pedro Armendáriz, Andrés Soler and Domingo Soler. Additionally, the channel continues its longstanding celebration of contemporary Latin cinema with the presentation of El Jardín del Edén (Mexico/Canada, 1994), on Saturday, September 29 at 11pm ET/8pm PT (with an encore presentation on Sunday, September 30 at 3pm ET/12 noon PT).
