Jessica Caldrello, founder of Casting By
The experience developed throughout 10 years of work in the Casting department in Telemundo Studios, gave Jessica Caldrello the foundation to launch her Company Casting By, based in Miami, Florida.
“Casting By does not represent actors, it creates casts. The idea appeared during my performance as Casting director at Telemundo Studios. I collaborated with co-productions and started to understand the importance of having a person who can move internationally to meet cast needs,” expressed the young entrepreneur, born in Colombia, who is a professional journalist.
The services they offer include the “estelar”, comprised of 30 to 40 characters: the protagonists, antagonists and the rest of the cast. For this type of service, Caldrello requieres around three months to finish the task. “That way I can read and understand what the story is about, and launch the call,” she adds. If it is a small project, like, for example, the selection of two characters, it takes much less time.
She additionally mentioned that she handles a database of more than 800 talent agents.
During her time at Telemundo, Caldrello took part in projects like El Señor de los Cielos and Señora Acero, among others.
The services offered by Casting By ae not only aimed at production companies, but also at actors. “I want to offer actors who need to present a casting to a production company to come with me. I can set up a casting that his well-directed and lit, and give them the link for them to send it to the production company.”
