Preparations for the first edition of the PopCon are going at full speed and have Sergio Pizzolante, general manager of C&T Mobs, eager about the idea of generating in Mexico a space of encounter between fans, brands, and content, in the aim to become a platform for launches in Spanish.

Although the agenda is not ready yet, the appointment is set from the 4th to the 7th of July at the Pepsi Center WTC in Mexico City and expectations are increasing. “We will take the best practices in events of this type (ComiCon San Diego, ComiCon São Paulo), adapted and optimized for the Mexican market. It is the first year of an event that seeks to celebrate the pop culture of Hollywood in the Latino world and in the global market. PopCon will be the most important launch platform in Spanish in the world,” pointed out Pizzolante.

The producer mentioned that the response of the industry: majors, producers, talent, OTT platforms, TV channels, and clients, has been positive. There have been conversations with HBO Latin America, Disney, NBCUniversal, OLE Communications, Viacom, Discovery, Endemol Shine Boomdog, Lemon Estudios, CMX Mexico, among others.

“The industry consensus is that Mexico deserves an event that, along with allowing for the big productions and talents of Hollywood, celebrates world-class contents that are produced in our industry. Luis Miguel: La Serie and Nicky Jam: El Ganador are the reflection of that evolution in storytelling that is possible in the Latino market.”
