Michela Giorelli, Production and Development VP at Discovery Latin America
Michela Giorelli, Production and Development VP at Discovery Latin America, reported that they are making for Discovery Home & Health the Mexican version of No Te Lo Pongas, the second season of Mi Estilo, Tu Estilo (that will have participants from Mexico, Colombia, and Argentina), the Latin American version of Vestido De Novia, which they are making for the first time, and the co-production Fuego Rápido, with the brand Soriana, all on Lifestyle.
For Discovery Channel, on the other hand, they are preparing the fifth season of Mexicánicos, that has been the number one series on Discovery Channel both in Mexico and on Discovery en Español, as well as two shooting projects for 2018: Debate Goleador and Emprendedores.
She commented that they are also making two more specials for Discovery Channel, centered on current topics. “One is El Corredor De La Muerte, on the struggles the girlfriend of a man on death row makes to help him appeal and save his life. It is a very moving project, that allows targeting the problem of US death row inmates,” she stated.
The other project is about women who transport drugs. It was shot in Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico. “We had access to several former mules. Some are in jail, others are trying to recover their lives. It is about the modus operandi used by drug dealers and how it ruins these women’s lives who are, actually, the last link in the drug trafficking chain”.
