FIFA gets on board the streaming train launching its free FIFA+ platform

FIFA launched its FIFA+ digital platform on April 12, aiming to connect for free all the soccer’s fans worldwide. It offers live matches from leagues around the world, matches statistics, the international soccer archive with premium original content. It will broadcast +40,000 matches which includes +29,000 of men’s soccer and + 11,000 of women’s. The first original productions are around figures such as Ronaldinho, Dani Alves, Ronaldo Nazário, Romelu Lukaku, Lucy Bronze and Carli Lloyd.

“FIFA+ represents the next step towards our vision of making soccer truly global and inclusive, supporting FIFA’s core mission, which is to expand and develop soccer globally,” said FIFA President Gianni Infantino in a press release. “This project represents a cultural change in the way in which different types of soccer’s fans can connect with this sport and get to know it better, and it is a fundamental part of my Vision 2020-2023. It will speed up soccer’s democratization and we are delighted to share it with the public.”

By the end of 2022, FIFA+ will broadcast the equivalent of 40,000 live matches per year from 100 member associations across the six confederations, including 11,000 women’s matches. FIFA+ offers all types of live broadcasts, from the best European leagues to men’s, women’s and youth competitions from around the world. Beginning its launch date, FIFA+ will be broadcasting 1,400 matches live per month.

In preparation for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, FIFA+ will feature every Men’s and Women’s World Cup match ever recorded. In total, more than 2 thousand hours of archive images. It is the first time that this archive is available to the public. It will offer the opportunity to see full matches, the most interesting plays, goals and highlights. The FIFA+ Archive will kick off with more than 2,500 videos dating back to the 1950s. Many more will be added throughout the year.

FIFA+ will also share stories about men’s and women’s soccer from around the world. Documentaries, docuseries, talk shows and short films will be released, all translated into eleven languages. The stories will cover everything from basic leagues to national teams and will feature soccer stars of yesterday and today, from more than 40 countries.

The content of FIFA+ will continue to grow and evolve throughout 2022 with new stories. Those available already in the catalog include: Ronaldinho: The Happiest Man in the World, Captains, Croatia: Defining a Nation, HD Cutz, Dani Crazy Dream, Golden Boot, Icons, Academies.

FIFA+ is available for web and mobile devices and coming soon to a wide range of devices in five languages (English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish), with six more to follow in June 2022.
