Leonardo Padrón, Venezuelan film and TV writer, said on #VisitaPRODU that after the success of the story of the Juliantinas, in Amar a Muerte, they realized that the audiences of open TV have changed, matured and that they are willing to watch modern contents, with innovative topics, such as the ones aired on digital platforms.

”We were terrified. We didn´t know if it would work out or if we were going to lose TV viewers, but it was a hit, and that is a lesson for open TV, that it not only can tell modern stories, like Netflix, Hulu, and HBO do, but that it has to. Now, after this success, we are going to make the film, and hope that after that, we can make the series about this couple,” said the executive.

Padrón also expressed that telenovela is not going to expire nor disappear, but it must be renovated. “The reinvention of this format is imperative. The new streaming services have changed the way stories are told and consumed. The telenovela must change its times and aesthetic codes to continue existing.”

He also mentioned that Mexico is living a great moment as the Latin American country with the greatest amount of high-quality productions that have excellent talents, where they are making the new version of Rubí from Fábrica de Sueños for Televisa.

Rubí is a spectacular story in which the villain is the protagonist. We are about to finish shooting and the end has some changes compared to the original story. I don´t want to disclose too much, but it is going to be fantastic,” he expressed.
