The first season of Idol Puerto Rico, produced by WAPA TV and FremantleMedia, has been a success both in ratings and advertising sales.Jack Alfandary, senior VP of Sales and New Business Development to Latin America and U.S. Hispanic of FremantleMedia Latin America, said to PRODU that the show is sponsored by Coca Cola, Ford and AT&T, which also sponsor the U.S. version.“Additionally, we have other sponsors like Burger King and some mid-size brands. In total, we have seven sponsors in addition to spot sales,” says Alfandary. For him, this first project in the U.S. Hispanic market has been rewarding and he hopes it will attract other opportunities.“We’ve been working in several occasions with other channels in the Hispanic market, but at this time I have nothing to announce. All that is left is for us to enjoy the success of Idol Puerto Rico, which evidences the quality of our work and of the formats offered by FremantleMedia,” added Alfandary.
