PRODU spoke with Maggie Salas, head of Programming and Acquisitions of the new channel ¡HOLA! TV, who revealed more details about the channel’s original productions and the acquisition of third-party content.Salas said that during this initial stage, the channel produces in Miami daily shows ¡HOLA! Diario, Mundo ¡HOLA! and ¡HOLALA! It also produces weekly shows like Vidas Reales, from Spain, and will premiere in December OnCinema, produced in Miami. “Additionally, we produce in Miami En Exclusivo, where celebrities invite us into their homes and give us very personal interviews, which is the essence of ¡HOLA!” she added.Salas said these original productions are complemented by content from international distributors featuring topics such as fashion, travel, biographies, and lifestyles of the stars.“We’ve acquired content from BBC, Indigo, Bender Media. We have a catalog from Video Elephant with several biographies and a Video Fashion catalog that has provided us lots of content with Video Fashion News, Video Fashion Model, Video Fashion Designers, and Video Fashion Specials,” she added.Salas also said the channel will soon launch in the U.S. She did not provide a date, but said there is a lot interest in the brand from pay-TV operators.“The U.S. is a natural transition. We’ll start in Latin America because that is where we have HOLA! Venezuela, ¡HOLA! Puerto Rico, ¡HOLA! Argentina, ¡HOLA! Dominican Republic, ¡HOLA! Mexico. The franchises support the channel locally and vice versa,” added Salas.
