Adriana Suárez, a writer with 17 years of experience, said that they proposed to Canal RCN to make a new version of Café con Aroma de Mujer adapted to current times, but keeping the essence of the characters created by Fernando Gaitán in his original version.

“We wanted to show that times have changed; women have empowered, collectors have become producers and that, in general, Colombian women have become protagonists of their own history. Coffee in our country is increasingly important and the role of women in its production process, too,” Suárez explained.

Café con Aroma de Mujer is the result of a research process, I was on the ground, I spoke with women, foremen, I toured the farms, discovering the importance of telling the story of today’s coffee, women’s coffee, that allow us to sense its aroma, and that they are an important part of the history of Gaviota and Sebastián,” comments Adriana Suárez.

“Sometimes I have had sleepless nights, and I wake up and say to myself, Café con Aroma de Mujer was so important for our continent and the industry, that the comparison will be inevitable because we always look for the nostalgia, but we must recognize that when a story is going to be made based on [a former original story], the strength is in the characters and in that I can say with complete confidence that this new version has that. I don’t create any character for the sake of creating it. In this new version, we are going to know a little more about what is going to happen with each character,” she added.

Regarding William Levy, the series leading character, Adriana explains: “From the first time I met William Levy and spoke with him, I realized that he was going to be a great Sebastián. He is a man who studied cinema, he knows a lot about the industry, he is serious, professional, he studies the scripts, the essence, he knew perfectly what Fernando Gaitán had written, he gave me some wonderful notes for the character. He has Sebastian’s gaze, who is a man who has truth in his gaze, he is a good, sincere, transparent man.”
