Luis Zelkowicz: I'm open to new opportunities and eager to choose the right story and direction
Luis Zelkowicz, creator of hit series such as El Señor de los Cielos—the longest-running series on US Hispanic television with nine seasons and over 900 episodes—and El Chema for Telemundo, announced EN VIVO with Ríchard Izarra his departure after a 24-year tenure with the company.
“I was fortunate to be part of the creative Telemundo that built an audience and established itself as the number one choice among the US Hispanic public. We developed a successful style and approach, guided by excellent administrations from Jim McNamara to Don Browne, through the leadership of Drama by Perla Farías, Roberto Stopello, Marcos Blanco, and, of course, the management of Silberwasser, Joshua Mintz, and Marcos Santana. While everything evolves and changes, my time with Telemundo has come to an end. Moving forward, I’m open to new opportunities and eager to choose the right story and direction. I have several offers on the table,” expressed Zelkowicz.
He added that there was a point at Telemundo where he didn’t want to continue, “when I saw where things were headed. I want to remain associated with the creative Telemundo that built, not the one that destroys. In a way, I’ll always consider it home, given my 24 years of involvement, including 12 years of exclusivity.”
