The entire Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones (IFT) de México (Mexican Institute of Telecommunications), approved the Annual Work Program for 2019, which includes 42 strategic projects, nine less than the previous year.
The IFT mentioned that the work program incorporated very relevant projects, but whose execution is subject to budget availability, after the Cámara de Diputados (Parlament Assembly) approved the Federation´s Expenditure Budget with a reduction of 280 million for the regulatory body.
The projects to be made this year highlight the creation of the Sistema Nacional de Información de Infraestructura (SNII) (National Infrastructure Information System), that will allow hosting the national georeferenced database, which, together with other information generated by the IFT, will be useful for the definition of public policies.
They are also considering a series of studies, analysis and reports, as well as events and campaigns that delivers results to continue with the evaluation of the regulatory impact of the decisions adopted by the Institute, replicate the best international practices on the subject, and the development of prospective actions for the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors, such as the study on the Adoption of TICs and the use of Internet in Mexico, and the Report on the topic of accessibility to telecommunication services for disabled people, among others.
