Telemundo Global Studios (TGS) presented on Monday, August 19 its first academic program Fellowship, currently in production, at the headquarters of Telemundo Center where they revealed the seven participants: Manuel Arias from Mexico (Acapulco Shores, MTV LatAm), Erick Díaz from Mexico (producer of Noticiero Telemundo), Néstor Luque from Colombia (AG Studios), Lara Fernández from the US and Spain (VICE Media), Lucio Mansilla from Argentina (Torneos y Competencias), Valeria Martino from Argentina and Mexico (TV Azteca) and Natalia Plazas from the US (Marca Digital).

Fabrizio Alcobe, SVP of Talent at TGS was in charge of presenting the program that will have a duration of 18 months and whose candidates were chosen among 388 applications (344 external, 36 referrals and 8 internal from Telemundo), received in 101 days from 17 different countries in the region.

Alcobe mentioned the seven executive producers who will be mentors in the program: Marcel Ferrer, Mariana Iskandarani, David Posada, Martha Godoy, Miguel Varoni, Ana Paula Baldobino, and Jimena Cantoris.

César Conde, Chairman of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises and NBCUniversal International Group offered the students some welcoming remarks.

“This program arrives at our company at the perfect moment, since we are in constant evolution. We have established the goal to redefine what has been done in Hispanic TV: diversify, elevate, bring something new to our audience and market. To do this, we need big ‘athletes’, since we are in a changing world. The abilities that people have today are not necessarily the same ones that will be necessary for the future, so we need people who can adapt rapidly,” expressed Conde.

He added that the Fellowship was “an extremely competitive program. When we opened it, we hoped it would attract a great deal of interest, but we didn´t know for sure. The quality of the applicants we receive from the US and all Latin America surprised us and also filled us with pride.”
