Rafael Araneda Returns to UNIMÁS as Host of New Show Primeras Citas

As part of UNIMÁS’s transformation with fresher, more relatable content aligned with audience preferences—and high-impact formats that entertain, create emotional connection, and spark conversation on social media—TelevisaUnivision has commissioned a local adaptation of the British format First Dates, internationally distributed by Warner Bros. International TV Production (WBITVP).

Although no premiere date has been confirmed yet, the new version is titled Primeras Citas and will air on UNIMÁS, hosted by Chilean presenter Rafael Araneda.

The adaptation of the WBITVP format will be produced for UNIMÁS by Boxfish and Nippur Media.

“Looking for a partner? Primeras Citas, the new love show on UNIMÁS, has a table reserved for you. A date and a dinner that could change everything. Sign up now and let Cupid do the rest,” says Araneda in the teaser, as part of the audition strategy to select participants for the program.

First Dates premiered on Channel 4 in the UK in 2013 and has since had more than 20 international adaptations, including in markets such as Australia, Germany, France, Canada, Norway, and the United States.

In Ibero-America, it has been adapted in Argentina, Brazil, and Spain—one of the territories where it has been most successful, airing continuously since 2016 on Cuatro, a Mediaset España channel.

In Spain, where production is handled by WBITVP Spain, the format has had three spin-offs: First Dates Hotel, First Dates Cruise, and First Dates Café.

Primeras Citas features a first date between two people who have never met before, set in an elegant restaurant where they can get to know each other, have an intimate conversation, and assess whether there is a potential romantic connection. In the end, both must decide whether or not they want to see each other again.
