The documentary Atrévete a Vivir will portray the life of actress Florinda Meza
The premiere of Chespirito: Sin Querer Queriendo, produced by Grupo Chespirito, THR3 Media Group, and Perro Azul for HBO Max, has stirred controversy and reignited interest in telling new stories from the universe created by Roberto Gómez Bolaños. Two upcoming documentaries stand out: one about Florinda Meza, set to premiere on Amazon Prime, and another announced by Esteban Valdés, son of Ramón Valdés, based on his book Con Permisito Dijo Monchito.
While the HBO Max biopic focuses on Chespirito’s professional journey, these new documentary projects present themselves as counterpoints that aim to recover — from different voices — the intimate stories, the affections, and even the silences that surrounded those who brought to life iconic characters like Doña Florinda and Don Ramón.
Atrévete a Vivir is the title of the documentary starring Florinda Meza. According to Javi Domz, the project’s producer, it is a piece that has been developed over several years and incorporates never-before-seen material provided by the actress herself: “There is a lot of unseen footage that Florinda has shared with us, which isn’t available anywhere else. That will be a gift to the audience,” he said.

The documentary will also be the first in Latin America to use artificial intelligence as a narrative tool, allowing for the recreation of moments from her life, tours, and even images of Roberto Gómez Bolaños on screen:
“You’ll see Don Roberto on screen again. AI helped us bring him back to life,” Domz revealed, adding that the project is legally backed: “All the testimonies, all the content we use is fully registered.”
In his words, the documentary’s focus avoids controversy: “We’re going to inspire and focus on the good and successful things.”
Producer Arturo Omar Uribe, in charge of AI development, said on his Instagram: “Being there, in front of Florinda Meza, was a whole different story. My years of experience have taught me something: true stories can only be told with respect. No one can twist what is authentic.”
The premiere of Atrévete a Vivir is scheduled for August on Amazon Prime, backed by a legal and creative team composed of Tony, Abigail, Betty León, and Florinda Meza herself, who has been involved in every detail.
In the same context, Esteban Valdés, son of Ramón Valdés, recently announced on the program Sale el Sol on Imagen Televisión that he is working on a documentary about his father’s life — the beloved Don Ramón. The project will be based on the book Con Permisito Dijo Monchito, published in 2019 and written during the pandemic.

According to Valdés, it will be a faithful portrait of his father, from his childhood to his encounter with Chespirito and his journey through television. The focus will be on showing the human side of an actor who shaped generations, moving away from the myth and closer to Ramón Valdés’s everyday life, including details such as the places he lived and lesser-known moments before fame.
Although no platform or official release date has been confirmed yet, the announcement adds to the wave of biographical and documentary content that has grown since the HBO series premiered, consolidating a renewed interest from audiences — and the industry — in the television icons of the 1970s and 1980s.
