Sony Pictures Television to produce TV series El Comandante inspired by the life of former Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez

Sony Pictures Television (SPT) has greenlit El Comandante, a television series inspired by the life of former Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez. The series is SPT’s most ambitious Spanish-language project to date in terms of size of production, and will star award-winning actor Andrés Parra -known for his critically-acclaimed performances in the TV drama Pablo Escobar, El Patrón del Mal– in the title role of Chávez. SPT will begin production on the 60-episode, one-hour, Spanish-language teleseries this summer.
