Event producer Joe Schramm said “We are immensely proud to honor NAMIC and José Cancela as two of our recipients. In their own way, they each reflect the kind of actions that are spurring on the surge of Latino Pride that we are now seeing erupt within the community.”

Schramm continued, “I am acutely aware of the important role that NAMIC plays in advocating for inclusion in content and in employment within television’s creative and corporate communities.” Schramm added, “Likewise, we are recognizing Jose Cancela for the impact he continues to make, as a television executive, as community leader and as an author, in defining Hispanic media within the local marketplace.”

FOUR ADDITIONAL AWARDS IN THE COMING WEEKS

Four additional Award recipients will be announced in the coming weeks.  The Awards are presented annually as part of the Summit program. The Awards recognize six recipients in total representing individuals, programming, or organizations and are presented in three categories: to pioneers in Hispanic TV (named “The Rafael Eli Awards”); for leadership in Hispanic TV; and for recognizing Outstanding Achievement in Hispanic TV.

The Summit is the longest running, “must-attend” annual event for those in the business of television intended for Hispanic audiences in the U.S. and worldwide. It has been consistently produced each year by Schramm Marketing Group of New York.  This year’s theme is “Content, Culture, Connection & Community.”

The presenting sponsor for the Summit is Kivi, a company that specializes in delivering live sports and culturally connected content to Hispanic viewers, wherever they are watching on Connected TV, mobile or on the web.

The Summit is scheduled for the convenience of its registrants who may also have plans to attend other television industry events in New York City during the same week, including the NAMIC Conference and the Walter Kaitz Foundation events which are part of the television industry’s Leadership Development Week at the same hotel, and NAB Show NY at the Jacob Javits Convention Center.

This year’s Summit is condensed to a three-hour event, scheduled from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm, much of which is presented during a seated luncheon.

Historically, Schramm Marketing Group has produced the Annual Hispanic Television Summit in association with B+C and Multichannel News magazines. These magazines ceased publication late last year.  Summit producer Joe Schramm commented, “Schramm Marketing Group is grateful for our longstanding alliance with the B+C and Multichannel News brands and their owners, Future.  Now we proudly move forward as we once again produce this legacy event for our twenty-third time.”
