For Miguel Brailovsky, SVP, Programming and Production at A+E Networks Latin America, it was very interesting to see how the pandemic activated projects that, due to their historical nature, “fit like a ring to the finger in a brand such as History.” These projects were Pandemia en tiempo real and Después de la pandemia.

Brailovsky, together with Carmen Larios, the company’s SVP and Head of Content, participated in the A&E conversation: The reality behind reality TV, moderated by Raquel-Catherine Dueñas Brckovich, producer of Capriles & Dueñas at MIPCancun Online+.

The talk was about the adjustments that A+E Networks had to do to be able to continue producing original content in the region.

Larios highlighted that for A&E, the big projects in 2020 were Metrópolis, ¡Alerta! Frontera and Cam alert. “We were able to give it a spin in which COVID was a protagonist in these docurealities and we were able to adapt the three series to this reality” she added and mentioned that the reality genre is one of the ones that adapts best. “It is something that was possible to be carried in our genre with changes in storytelling, in shooting, as opposed to other genres that are more complex.”

She explained that having been able to shift a series such as ¡Alto! Frontera, where they had 16 border points with different degrees of restrictions, was a positive thing. “The audience liked being able to watch contents and series they were waiting for, but with a modern and informative approach” she detailed.
