After years of trying to make ends meet in Chicago, Jesús García (Colunga) discovers that he has a daughter from his ex-girlfriend in Monterrey, Mexico. Determined to meet the child, he decides to return home but is tricked into participating in a money laundering scheme for which he is caught and charged with the crime. Burdened with a criminal record and no income, he sets out on the difficult mission to find work and learns that a high-ranking executive, Alma Montemayor (Soto), is looking for a new secretary. When she hires him on the spot, Jesús and Alma embark on a journey full of hilarious situations and intricate plot twists.
