Vme: Los Kennedy to air in October

One of the big surprises of the upfront season was the Vme network nailing down the rights to broadcast the miniseries Los Kennedy in the United States.Los Kennedy will air in eight hourlong episodes beginning in October of this year on Vme. We bought it from News Entertainment of Canada. The History Channel was going to broadcast it on the Anglo market but the owner is a close friend of Maria Shriver and the Kennedys, and decided not to televise it because of the controversy surrounding the series. But it will be on the History Channel in Latin America, Doris Vogelmann, Vme director of programming and acquisitions, told PRODU.Vogelmann attended LA Screenings looking for an entertainment series for the 8:00 p.m. time slot, a more family-oriented series, as well as documentaries for Jorge Gestosos program. Investigative documentaries have been very positive for Vme ratings up to now. We continue to look for miniseries (2×100) in general – weve found several in this market with Beta, Mediaset, Comarex and Spiral. On the kiddy side were always looking for animated features for preschoolers, next year for sure. Those are the main categories. The executive also said they were about to close a deal for another big series.July will see the launch of the new E3 program of entertainment news produced by Plural in Miami, and a cooking program that is an original production featuring Chef Hamlet Garcia, host of the channels food segment.
