WAPA América signs contract for exclusive broadcast rights to Puerto Rico Basketball League games

Puerto Rican basketball fans living in the U.S. will be able to watch live games from Puerto Rico, after WAPA Television signed an exclusive contract with the Puerto Rican Basketball League to televise the league’s games on WAPA América, the station’s U.S. cable network arm.The games will air in Puerto Rico on WAPA2, its local sports channel. The season will begin in March.“It was very important to us to acquire rights to these games, as the Basketball League has a faithful following among Puerto Ricans. We are proud to make these games available to the Puerto Ricans living in the U.S. This contract reaffirms our commitment to offer high-quality entertainment and sports programming to our viewers living in and outside of Puerto Rico,” said José E. Ramos, president of WAPA Television.More than 80 years old, the Puerto Rico Basketball League (BSN, for its Spanish acronym, Baloncesto Superior Nacional) is well-recognized around the world.WAPA América will air the most important games from the regular season, as determined by the Puerto Rican Basketball League, as well as all games from the postseason.“For the basketball fans who can’t be sitting courtside, it’s an honor to make these games available on WAPA América and WAPA2,” said Carlos Beltran, president of the Puerto Rican Basketball League.
