Thanks to his great charisma, Carlos Barba was loved by the entire industry

Cuban-born businessman Carlos Barba, one of the pioneers of Hispanic TV and creator of important media, died at the age of 89.

Throughout his career, he worked as an announcer (for eight television stations), producer, content distributor, advertising salesman, and businessman in Cuba, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, and the US.

“It has been a great satisfaction and a privilege, first, being able to work for 50 years on behalf of the Hispanic communities in the US and Latin America and second, to have had the opportunity to find unforgettable and fraternal friends among the professionals of the communications industry,” he said when celebrating his 50 years in the industry in 2009 in an exclusive interview with PRODU.

At that time, he served as president and CEO of CaribeVisión Holdings and was the founder, along with Alejandro Burillo Azcárraga of Pegaso Group of Mexico, of the CV Network chain.

With an extensive career in Hispanic TV, in 1989, he was behind the development of Telemundo. In 1991 he was president and COO of Venevision International and in 1993 president and COO of Univision Television Group. He was also president and general manager of WAPA Canal 4 de Puerto Rich and owner and CEO of UnoDosTres.com in Miami.

Barba knew all the aspects of the Hispanic business. Thanks to his great charisma, he was loved by the entire industry.
