Yahoo and Google reinvent their search methods for mobile

Recently, Yahoo updated its application Aviate, which allows Android users to personalize their phones with the new intelligent search system Smart Stream. This tool works as a personal assistant that anticipates any information the person might need on their smartphone and makes it available on the main screen of the phone.Google has a similar proposal, called Google Now. Marissa Mayer, CEO, Yahoo -previously research executive at Google- is spearheading the process. Yahoo and Google were the first companies to create a search system inside a box. Now, both companies are building more self-reliable search systems for mobile. The same as the Google Now App, Smart Stream takes personal information from different applications in the phone, such as location, history, search patterns, email, and calendars. For example, Smart Stream automatically reminds you that you have a conference, gives you the number of the person you must contact and suggests you put on your earphones.People are increasingly looking up more information while they are on the go. Google and Yahoo think these personal assistants are the future of search mechanisms. “When we think of Smart Stream, we are answering the question what do you want to do next”, explained Paul Montoy-Wilson, cofounder and Product Manager at Yahoo Aviate. “Anticipatory computing is trying to understand the user´s intention before he enters anything. If you get that, you´ve got a great business”.
