Producer Salvador Mejía gathered the cast of his new telenovela, Me Atrevo a Amarte, to mark the start of filming

Producer Salvador Mejía gathered the cast of his new telenovela, Me Atrevo a Amarte, to kick off the start of filming.

With the inaugural clapperboard event held on location in Morelos, Salvador Mejía began production on his latest project for TelevisaUnivision, Me Atrevo a Amarte. The telenovela, starring Kimberly Dos Ramos, Rodrigo Guirao, Horacio Pancheri, and others, is a free adaptation of the Turkish series Asi (Rebellious), distributed by Kanal D. It has been reinterpreted to focus on Mexican values and is set to premiere on February 24, 2025, at 6:30 PM.

“This is a version inspired by Asi, but very Mexican. We aim to present a story with our values, where love overcomes the hardships created by antagonists seeking revenge. It’s a family-friendly telenovela with a traditional tone that I believe will set it apart from other projects,” the producer explained.

The production will feature 85 one-hour episodes, airing at 6:30PM on Canal de las Estrellas. Filming takes place in various landscapes across Morelos, as well as other locations showcasing Mexico’s cultural and natural richness.

“We’ve focused on ensuring the settings reflect who we are as Mexicans. We want the audience to feel it deeply. Melodrama remains the foundation of many stories around the world, and our bet is on a classic yet real narrative with universal values and a modern touch,” he added.

A BLEND OF TALENT

Regarding the cast, Mejía highlighted the mix of experienced actors and rising stars: “We continue to nurture new talent while working with seasoned performers. The audience is demanding, so we strive to offer them the best in production quality.”

As a preview of what this melodrama will bring, he announced that the main theme song will be performed by Alejandro Fernández and Majo Aguilar.

For the producer, it’s essential not only to present a classic melodrama but also to create a story that resonates with the audience by exploring values and family connections: “While we adorn the story with folkloric elements like mole preparation or classic cars, the essence lies in human values and their contrasts.”

KIMBERLY DOS RAMOS TAKES ON HER FIRST LEAD ROLE

Although she played a central role in Mejía’s previous production, Vivir de Amor, Kimberly Dos Ramos is now stepping into her first lead role, portraying a strong and empowered woman—something she said her fans have consistently requested:

“The audience has often asked me to play a woman who stands her ground, and when Salvador offered me this character, I knew it was exactly what they were looking for. We’re representing many Mexican women who go out, work, study, and fight for their goals and dreams. We’ll also see empowered men, where many will find something to relate to.”

Finally, the actress noted that her career has been built step by step, and having Salvador Mejía trust her again fills her with excitement and a sense of responsibility: “I want to create a great story and make the audience fall in love again, just like they did with our previous telenovela.”
