Otto Padrón Resigns from Meruelo Media to Launch ACTIFY

20 de febrero de 2025

During his tenure, Padrón oversaw a diverse media portfolio for Meruelo, including the acquisition of the iconic Los Angeles radio station KLOS 95.5 from Cumulus Media

Otto Padrón has announced his resignation as President and CEO of Meruelo Media, effective at the end of February. His position will be taken over by Tomas Trujillo, currently the Senior Vice President of Finance and Operations at Meruelo Media.

During his tenure, Padrón oversaw a diverse media portfolio for Meruelo, including the acquisition of the iconic Los Angeles radio station KLOS 95.5 from Cumulus Media.

Before joining Meruelo Media, he served as Senior Vice President of Programming at Univision.

In a memo to Meruelo Media staff, Padrón stated that nearly 14 years ago, they set out to turn the organization into “the leading minority-owned media company in the U.S.” He expressed pride in dedicating his “name, soul, skills, and reputation” to making that vision a reality.

“With effort, trust, and commitment, we grew every aspect of our organization, transformed our beloved company, strategically adapted, and established a long-term plan for success. Our journey, executed precisely in one of the most competitive media markets in the U.S., turned our operation from a single station into a dynamic conglomerate of iconic radio and TV brands. We became the largest and fastest-growing minority-owned, veteran-operated media company in California. It has been a career-defining journey from KWHY-TV to KDAY, from POWER to KLOS and CALI-FM, and much more along the way. Today, this organization is stronger than when I took over, and I am honored to have been the catalyst for our team. Be proud of what you have achieved!”

In the same announcement, he revealed that his new venture, ACTIFY, will allow him to stay connected with many in the industry while exploring innovative initiatives in the media world, a field he is deeply passionate about.
