Mediapro develops remote dubbing system

Through their postproduction (Telson) and engineering (Unitecnic) companies, Mediapro created a system that records from the studio and in real-time, the dubbing actors do from their homes. With ADRAH —ADR (Additional Dialogue Replacement) plus AH (Actors’ Home)— they are dubbing two Mediapro contents, The Head and The Paradise (both for Orange TV).

ADRAH was born to overcome difficult times, but the idea is to continue. “We are now working with actors who are based not more than 1,000 km away,” said Juan José García Pérez, general director of Telson´s Tres60.

Miguel Ángel Garzón, dubbing actor and director, commented that with ADRAH the work quality and flow are identical to those of a recording session in a studio. The actor listens to the “take” of the scene and, then, records his voice over that of the direct sound, in real-time, and with a professional microphone. The technician adjusts the dubbing in the studio and the director, who can also be in his own home, simultaneously checks the result of the assembly of the recording.

Garzón added that the dubbing actor receives a professional microphone (the same he would use in the studio), a computer which he must connect to the modem, and that he can work on from any room in the house.

It is noteworthy that the material does not come out of the studio´s hard drive and connects to the actor via safe streaming, from another Mediapro company, Overon.
