Venezuela Made History at Cannes Lions 2026

The 73rd edition of the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity came to a close with one of the most memorable, emotional, and defining nights in the history of Latin American advertising.

The festival’s final day—dedicated to its most prestigious and forward-looking categories, including Glass: The Lion for Change, Sustainable Development Goals, Film, Dan Wieden Titanium Lions, the Grand Prix for Good, and the global Young Lions competitions—became a celebration of Spanish-speaking creativity. The region earned 14 Lions, highlighted by an unprecedented political and social milestone for Venezuela, a historic double Titanium win for Mexico, and a Young Lions Design Gold for Colombia.

VENEZUELA REACHES THE GLOBAL SUMMIT: GRAND PRIX FOR GOOD
The evening’s most emotional and celebrated moment at the Palais des Festivals came when “600K Network,” a decentralized civic infrastructure created for the citizen platform Comando con Venezuela in partnership with independent agency Rainbow Lobster Mexico City, was announced as the winner of the prestigious Grand Prix for Good.

The award, which recognizes the world’s best work for nonprofit organizations and public-interest causes, represents the highest international achievement ever attained by Venezuelan creative talent. The global jury recognized the project’s technical excellence, courage, and real-world impact, honoring a technological ecosystem designed in Caracas to audit and peacefully safeguard the vote by transforming citizen-generated data into a global tool for democratic verification.

MEXICO CLAIMS THE TITANIUM SUMMIT WITH A HISTORIC DOUBLE WIN
The success of 600K Network did not end there. The project further cemented its legacy by winning a coveted Titanium Lion in the Dan Wieden Titanium Lions, the category that rewards ideas redefining the future of the industry.

The night became even more remarkable for Mexico, whose delegation secured a historic double Titanium victory. The second Titanium Lion went to “Oreo Cows,” the groundbreaking cross-border innovation developed by VML New York and VML Mexico City for Mondelēz, capping off an extraordinary week for both the brand and its collaborative creative teams.

Mexico also earned a Bronze Lion in Glass: The Lion for Change for LePub Mexico City’s campaign “Welcome Back, Paisano.”

COLOMBIA TAKES YOUNG LIONS DESIGN GOLD
The future of Spanish-speaking creativity also took center stage in the Adobe-sponsored Young Lions competitions for professionals under 30.

Representing Colombia, Juan Manuel Linares (Art Director at DAVID) and Alejandro Orjuela (Copywriter at Isla) captured the coveted Young Lions Design Gold, outperforming competitors from around the world in the competition’s demanding 24-hour challenge.

Working from a brief provided by biodiversity conservation organization Re (co-founded by Leonardo DiCaprio), the duo impressed the jury with “Re the Earth.” The project was recognized for its refined, flexible, and compelling visual identity, as well as for proposing an interactive festival installation that places nature at the center of the global conversation.

MEXICO SHOWCASES ITS CINEMATIC STRENGTH IN FILM
The historic Film Lions competition once again highlighted the creative power of Mexico City agencies and production companies.

Grey Mexico City reached the top of the category, winning a Gold Lion and an additional Bronze Lion for “Bullet Machine.”

Mexico’s strong audiovisual performance continued with GUT Mexico City, which earned a Campaign Bronze Lion for its trilogy of films “Mafia,” “Samurai,” and “Western.”

The country’s Film tally was completed by Ogilvy Mexico City with “The Mexican Dream – The Work” and Wieden+Kennedy Mexico with “Who’s Waiting for You?”, each receiving an additional Bronze Lion.

PARAGUAY ENDS ON A HIGH IN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS
Latin America’s diversity was also reflected in the festival’s impact and sustainability categories.

Paraguay concluded a historic Cannes Lions with Oniria\TBWA Asunción, whose acclaimed community tourism and social inclusion platform “Santa María Pueblo Hotel” for Senatur received a Bronze Lion in Sustainable Development Goals, capping an outstanding week for the country’s creative industry.

As Cannes Lions 2026 comes to a close, one message is unmistakable: Latin America is no longer recognized solely for telling powerful emotional stories. The region has established itself as a global force in civic infrastructure, technological innovation, and business platforms with meaningful social impact—developing ideas that are helping define the future of creativity and communications worldwide.
